Deck Core Issues
Submitted by dasein668 on Wed, 01/01/2003 - 01:00. Superceded Projects, ExteriorAs with many Tritons, Dasein has problems with water getting into the deck core, primarily due to poorly bedded hardware. This problem was especially evident around the stanchion bases. Last fall I removed the lifelines and stanchions, with the idea that leaving the holes open over the winter might help dry the core in the area immediately around those openings.
Restoration of the Toerail
Submitted by dasein668 on Wed, 01/01/2003 - 01:00. Superceded Projects, ExteriorOctober 5-6, 2002 One of the projects for this year is to resurrect the old teak woodwork on deck, starting with the toe rail. One of the reasons we are doing this is because the teak, as it is now, is only a couple of seasons away from literally falling apart. The rail has been left raw for many seasons, and is badly dried out in some areas, and is actually rotting in other areas, due to trapped moisture. We decided to get hold of the situation now, when I should be able to simply sand and make a few minor repairs, rather than waiting till I need to completely replace everything.
Cockpit Projects
Submitted by dasein668 on Wed, 01/01/2003 - 01:00. Superceded Projects, ExteriorAs part of the electrical project, we intended to move the engine panel from its position on the port side of the cockpit well back to the aft end of the cockpit well. Since this would necessitate some glass repair, we decided to take the opportunity to remove some items left over from the old A4 engine, as well as relocate the manual bilge pump which a previous owner had installed in the cockpit sole.
Lazarette Access
Since
we intended to put the engine panel in the opening which was originally
designed for access to the lazarette area, we needed to provide
some provision for lazarette access. The obvious solution was
to provide top-loading access to this area.
