Overnight to Chebeague, June 13
Distance Travelled: 4.4 nm | PYC to Chebeague (Chebeague Island Inn, West Side)
Spent most of the day finishing up provisioning with Gavin. Also helped Gerry put in dinghys. Picked H up at Applegate, then headed to boat w/last of provisions. Arrived aboard 1610. I was exhausted and feeling sort of achy all over, but got the boat ready while H put away food. ¶ There wasn't much wind right in the anchorage, but seemed to be some just outside the moored boats. I tried to sail off the mooring, but the incoming tide was stronger than the push of the wind! Fired engine and powered outside the boats and quickly was sailing nicely ona beam reach. The evening was beautiful with warm sun and nice 5-10 knot sw breeze. ¶ Turned helm over to H and we enjoyed a great 4.5-5.7 knot sail past Wyman Station and up to Chebeague. We wanted to head ot the Goslings, but I was too tired, andvetoed it. We pulled in and picked up a Chebeague Island Inn guest mooring. Picked up mooring at 1730. ¶ Put the boat away and made cocktails. Relaxed enjoyingthe lovely evening, then dinner of steak and salad from our farm. After dinner G and I rowed out to take pictures of the boat while H cleaned up. ¶ After we returned, Gavin went below to use the head and shortly reported "a river of water!" Ugh. After a brief investigation, I determined that the seal between the toilet bowl and the mounting flange was leaking. Spent a lovely 20 minutes unmounting the toilet, tightening the bolts that hole the bowl and flange together, then remounting the toilet. Voila! No leaks. ¶ Gavin and Heather got ready for bed and sacked out very early. I stayed up for a while reading Umberto Eco and listening to jazz on MPR, then hit the racks. Stayed calm till early AM hours when light easterly breeze came up.
