Distance Travelled: 16.9 nm | Bucks Harbor to Carver Cove, Vinalhaven
H
and G departed 1015. Put boat back together and left Bucks 1210, after brief
chat w/Andrew. ¶ Powered south into light
s-sw breeze. Fair current, making good time. Near Bradbury Island wind started
to build. At Eagle Island decided I could sail, figuring I could make my course
withonly 2 or 3 tacks. Nice sail at 4.5-5.5 in variable s-sw breeze 5-15 knots.
Made Fox Island Thoroughfare and reached in to Carver Cove. Dropped hook in
16 at low at 1540. Only 2 or 3 other boats. ¶
Harbor is huge and open to north, but fine in settled weather. Appears to be
fish pens or other floating nets at head of harbor, hard to see. Plenty of space
to anchor in 9-18 feet. Soft mud. Back down hard with plenty of scope so anchor
can dig deep. ¶ Had cocktails and cought up
on logbook. Nice firewors way off to the North, presumably on North Haven, though
I'm not positive. Watched w/binocs.
