Distance Travelled: 23.7 nm | Islesford, Little Cranberry Island to Camp Island via Stonington

cruise photoMore wind. Clear and sunny but still honking at 25+ from NW. Discovered that new bilge pump wasn't working. WTF???? Turns out new pump too small to overcome head pressure from long run out of deep bilge.Fuckity. Cleaned up other pump and switch and after testing and head scratching determined that we were using to small of a fuse (5amp, called for 6amp). Needed more 1 1/8 inch hose to reinstall. Decided Stonington. Left Islesford 1215. Powered around tip of Great Cranberry then killed engine. Sailed out Western Way on brad rech/run @ 6 knots in 20+ w/single reef. Heading out WW we had to pass close aboard s/v Cookie. Yelled over to see which direction, then stalled main and took them astern. Had a nice friendly chat yelled across between the two boats before heading our separate directions. Hardened up for Bass Harbor Bar. Wind up and down from 10 to 30 knots, swinging from NW to W. At bar wind was likgth and due west so motored across and for about 20 minutes towards Casco Passage. Soon wind seemed to come more N so we sailed at 4.5 knots. Laid Casco Passage on one tack due to nice lift near opening of pass. Managed to sail through despite nearly being swamped by incosiderate boat out of Florida. On Jericho Bay side wind seemed light and very West again. Powered across Bay into steadily incresing westerly. Built to near 20 before laying back down near Stonington. Arrived Stonington after Billings Marine had closed so we headed back to Camp Island, dropping hook at 1810. Nice spot for settled summer weather. Lots of room, and open to Deer Island Thorofare, but very pretty area. When we arrived there were a copule boats in residence, plus the schooner Angelique. Soon one more boat came and anchored much closer than necessary. WTF? The place is huge! Was ok, but unnecessary. Nice sunset. Dinghyed around to Angelique and over to another schooner at Hells Half Acre. Quiet night. Nice.
