Distance Travelled: 7.5 nm | Wooden Boat School, Brooklin to Hells Half Acre

cruise photoAwoke late 0730 or later to thick fog, but storng brighness. Expected fog to lift by midmorning. Had breakfast then packed for shore.Headed up to the WB store; I check my and H's email, G plaed w/some kids hemet there, and H tooka short run up to the store in Brooklin and back (3 miles). Had showers, then back to the boat. Fog was out by then and we headed out for Hells Half Acre on Merchant Row. As we powered out H asked me to flip on bilge pump. Did briefly, then forgot about it. Soon noted water above the floorboards. Grrrrrr! Pumped out and throttled back so stern wasn't squatting before turning off pump. Siphoning from bilge outlet. Tim commented that his doesnt' do that, with virtually identical set up, but I realize the diff is probably my deep bilge vs his shallow: my hose has more water remaining in it to flush back down, plus a much longer drop to start the siphon. Need check-valve and/or vented loop. Sailed part way, but wind was v. light. Motored the last couple miles. Got to Hells Half Acre to find Glissando already anchored! Anchroed nearby in at about the 18 foot sounding on the chart. Headed ashore on the islets so G could swim. H brought a book and had a squirtgun fight w/G. Tim and I wandered around exploring/taking pics. Around 1530 headed back to boat--G was tired actually slept! H and I read, then around 1730 woke G and headed to Gliss for cocktails. Brought some Camembert (good) and Goya ginger beer to match w/Tim's PYRAT XO Reserve rum (excellent). Enjoyed nice evening. Reterned to Dasein around 1930. G had a small dinner-supplement, H called her parents to check in, and I read. Got G ready for bed, then H and I read. Short heavy rainshower around 2130. Somewhat windy overnight.
