Distance Travelled: 30.1 nm | Allen Island to Long Cove, Vinalhaven via Rockland

cruise photoAwoken to RIDICULOUS lobster boat wake at 0444. Cold getting underway, but nice once sun was up. Rolly. Headed up past Mosquito Island to Muscle Ridge Channel. Fair current. Through MRC w/out incident, then on to Rockland. Dropped main approaching mooring; ring where I usually fasten the halyard was broken but not visibly so. Tensioned halyard and ZIP! to the mast head.Grrr. Called Journey's End Marine, went in to their dock. After about 1 hr wait, they used a man lift to grab halyard. $37.50. Dropped Tim ashore so he could grab fresh/frozen food in Whitefield. While waiting, had lunch, picked up boat, etc, etc. Tim was back approx 1345. Quickly made ready and headed out at 1400. Spectacular sail in 15-20 on the beam across to Leadbetter Narrows at speeds of 5.8 - 6.2 over ground. Wow! Glorious! As we entered the narrows the wind disappeared (lee). Rolled jib and powered through narrows to Long Cove. Anchored in 25 feet near Endurance, Merle Hallet's "expedition trawler". Went to Glissando for cocktails and steak dinner. Yum! Some bugs, but not terrible. Back home at 2045. Read till 2200. Excellent sleeping.
