Distance Travelled: 20.4 nm | Harmon Harbor to Allen Island

cruise photoThick fog in the AM. Spent morning obsessing over the weather and trying to relax. Rowed around the harbor, took pics. Read. Between 1100 and 1230 fog was as thick as any I've seen. At one point I couldn't see either shore and I could see thick wisps of fog rolling over the bow of the boat. Finally around 1245 it started to clear. By 1330 vis. was pretty good and we headedout thinking to see how it was outside. Vis. was 2-3 miles so we headed for Davis Straits. Had fair current and winds. Tried sailing but were only making 4 knots. W/late start and 20 miles minimum to make, decided to power sail w/jib. FAST run across Musc. Bay. Speeds above 6.0 knots most of the way. Saw 6.6 a few times. Arrived Georges Hargor on Allen Island around 1730. Had some trouble with anchor. Bottom seemed firm/mixed. Took 3 tries to get both a set AND position amongst the copious pots. Nice evening! Racks early for an 0445 wake up call. Sheep bleating on Burnt Island. Funny to hear!
