Distance Travelled: 16.3 nm | Merchant Harbor to Buck's Harbor

cruise photo The first "leg" of my cruise„the "Bachelor's Cruise"„was drawing to an end; the second leg„the "Family Cruise" was about to begin. While I had greatly enjoyed the first part of the trip, I was also looking forward to seeing Heather and Gavin.

From the log: Woke around 0430„sixth sense, maybe: Glissando was floating inches away from Dasein. Pushed her away and towed Dasein away via dinghy. Punched in waypoints to Bucks Harbor and enjoyed a beautiful sunrise. By 0630 I was itching to leave and told Tim and Britton so; suggested I woud see them in Bucks. They saw no reason to hang out either, so we were all underway by 0700. Motered through Merchant Row. Cut between Farrel Island and Mark Island while Tim and Britton went S. of Farrel, so I was well ahead. Powered up East Pen Bay, weaving through the pots. After slogging hrough the strong current by Eagle Island, I was in the clear of pots. No boats to be seen, and FAC [Flat-Ass-Calm] so hooked up Otto [tiller pilot] who steered the last hour+ of the trip while I read! Dropped main while Otto steerred us along at 6 knots. I was on the mooring of the Arbus's (Anahata) with the boat fully put away before Tim and Britton arrived. Got dinghy motor running, cleaned the boat. Got 2 blocks plus 2 bags of cubes. Still 50% of ice remaining after 7 days!!! H and G arrived approx. 1800. Spent evening packing H's stuff + fresh food. G had trouble going to sleep„fussed for about 45 minutes.

Harbor Notes: One of my favorite places to go when I need to go ashore. Incredible protection, incredibly friendly. Wonderful "old-school" yacht club. Nice market; also serves breakfast/coffee.
