Distance Travelled: 0 nm | Destination: Bucks Harbor

With no plans to go anywhere for the day, we dedicated the whole day to pure relaxation. As usual, Gavin had us up early, but it was no problem—we were getting pretty used to it by now!

Babysitters!

Heather decided to sleep in so Gavin and I hung out in the cockpit for a while. Soon, Heather's mother, Bear, came by in the dinghy to see what was up and deliver some blueberry muffins. I said I was getting ready to go ashore for some coffee, and she told me to bring Gavin by Lucky Bear and leave him with Jere. I did so, and he agreed to watch Gavin if I would bring back a newspaper. Easy!

Presently I returned with a newspaper, coffee, and oh-so-greasy-but-oh-so-good egg breakfast sandwich. Mmmm. The four of us hung out reading the paper until it was clear that Gavin needed a nap. I then brought him home and made Heather get up—it was after 1000!

After his nap Heather's parentls came by again to take him out for lunch, leaving Heather and I with a couple of free hours which we used to relax and enjoy a short break from parenting. After a while I decided to visit with Tim and motored over to Glissando. We spent a pleasant afternoon hanging out in his cockpit, watching the goings on, enjoying a beer, examining his galley design, and discussing the potential of the Rhodes 41 as a platform for a large cruising boat. Meanwhile Heather gave Gavin a bath and spent some time reading.

More Sociality (sic)

Once again, our presense was requested at Yankee for cocktail hour. This time Tim was also invited. So at 1700 we all arrived in our separate dinghys. It was quite the convention with 4 dinghys tied to the stern of the big Corbin. The weather was a bit threatening, with the potential for afternoon thunderstorms, so soon after arriving we headed below to mix drinks and enjoy a nice spread of appetizers.

After a while it became clear that the weather was going to hold, and much of the party moved up on deck. Ron regaled us with stories and jokes for a while. Tim, Catherine, and I spent some nice time discussing boats and boating, and a grand time was generally had by all. The Jacks certainly know how to entertain in high style.

Eventually the party came to an end, and once again we retired to Lucky Bear for dinner—a nice mussel feed with bread and salad. We all chatted until quite late before heading back to our own boats for the night. The evening was quite peaceful.
