To Bed

Not much to report: little work got done on the boat this fall and she is now put to bed for the winter. This year I removed the forward gate stanchion which had caused a few problems with last winter's cover, used more and better stakes, and added two more pvc-conduit ribs for added support. Time will tell how well the cover holds up.

With no large projects on tap for the winter, site updates might be slim, but I'll try to post something occasionally. And next spring we'll be back in the swing catching up on our varnish work and getting the boat ready for another season.

'Til then!

"With no large projects on

"With no large projects on tap for this winter..." ?!!! You know I am going to catch up to you at this rate

Ummmm....

Riiight. I'm quakin' in my boots! ;-P
Nathan

I distinctly heard the sound

I distinctly heard the sound of a gauntlet being thrown...

Yup!

Let's see what you've got!
Nathan

Okay, but I should warn you

Okay, but I should warn you that I am submitting plans and a mockup of a 27 gallon fuel tank to my favorite welder next week!

I know I've said this before, but...

I hate you! (No hard feelings, right?)
Nathan

Eureka!

So this is the secret location where you found out about Britton's fuel tank...I've been scratching my head trying to figure out how you posted that pre-emptive question about the tank on the forum! Now I'm in the know. Phew. Do I need to separate you two? I'll turn this car right around...I will. Don't try me!

Had ya fooled!

You thought I was a mind-reader. Admit it!
Nathan

Actually...

Actually, I still thought you were a mind reader, till you just burst my bubble. Sadly, I'm not going to be able to idolize you any more. (Sniff) I'll have to look for a new hero. Britton, do you have any openings in your hero worship club?

limited openings

I have a few openings left but you had better get in your application quickly as the slots are filling up. Make sure to copy your application onto a garhauer boom vang.

Sorry, I gave at the office.

Did you enjoy your free lunch yet? hehe

free lunch

My religion forbids me to eat until my boat's needs have been met first. The free lunch was graciously received and immediately converted into items the boat wanted.

Did you get a hose clamp?

Or maybe 12" of drain hose?

Cheaper Hero

I'll reconsider your application if you submit it on a pair of small winches that are floating around your boatyard. My application fee is much cheaper than Britton's and I'll even forgive you for doubting me!
Nathan

Sorry, man...

You had your chance, but you blew it. Now you're just sounding desperate and pathetic. Obviously, you just weren't cut out to be my hero...or anyone else's either. Not everyone can be an idol, after all. If you want the winches, then come on up and I'll help you take them off. Better be soon, though, before this guy sees the boat...and the winches. Once that happens, I can't take them off.

Oh Well...

It's too much work being a hero anyway!
Nathan

Dreams coming true?

Thought you'd appreciate that I just woke up from a dream in which we were at a marina showing Dasein off to my family, only to discover that you had "rebuilt" the boat into some kind of strange "summer mode" vessel - the bulkhead was gone, and the hull was simply stained wood framing (elegantly shaped, but still!) No cabin, no head, but it still had a finished feel, and I was particularly shocked that you had decided to do away with the deep green hull color. I was in fact, more shocked about the color than about the fact that the hull was full of holes. Which, I guess, demonstrates my level of seamanship... I guess I tell you this because I want to make sure you haven't done anything rash that you're not telling us about...? ------- www.alfiero.net www.burgerofthemonth.com

Ha!

Well sir, you never know what might be going on 'neath that green tarp!
Nathan

Fear not.

I can say with some authority that there's nothing weird going on under that tarp. Oh, other than that rag-tag group of homeless people that seem to like the shelter and now call it home. But they don't bother things too much. The head still works, sort of.

As if...

You say that as though the head ever worked better than "sort of"! Though, I shudder to think what your driveway is looking like if people are using the head with any regularity...
Nathan

It's the season of giving.

Oh, the driveway's not a problem. I pay the homeless people a buck a week, plus anything they want out of the dumpster, to just shovel up the mess into your cockpit.

They're thrilled for the help I'm giving them getting back on their feet, and I'm busting with pride for being such a giver. It's a win-win situation.

Express Ride to Hell

BTW, I know I'm going straight to Hades. But the building blocks for that fate are already firmly in place. Now, I'm just working to guarantee a first-class seat.

Mmmmm.

Well, I bet they are really enjoying their living conditions then! Season of Giving indeed! Ha!
