A Lovely Evening

July 16 | 2.9 Nautical Miles

Last weekend ended up being a complete wash, sailing-wise, as we had other commitments on Saturday, and there was no wind on Sunday until after Gavin went down for a nap. So I decided it might be nice to head out to the boat for an evening sail and dinner.

Heather arrived from work at 1730, at the same time that Gavin and I arrived from home. We headed out to the boat and were quickly off the mooring in a light, nearly easterly, breeze. While Heather lounged about, we had a nice, slow sail out to Basket Island and back. Gavin took his turn at the helm on the return. It was just slightly hazy, and the low angle sun really sparkled off the water. We went less than 3 miles, and only about 45 minutes, but it was a perfect evening. Warm, with a gentle sailing breeze, and few other boats to be seen.

By 1900 we were back on the mooring enjoying sandwiches in the warm evening sun. Lovely.

Sweet patch.

Tsk, tsk. Now, there's been plenty of time to slap some green paint on that bow, mistah. Are you regretting your decision to allow comments from your readers? If not, I'll try harder, like Avis. Yeah, yeah...

Maybe we could paint that patch instead of going sailing when you come down... Nathan
